Jorge Monforte

He has worked in more than 70 countries, accumulating a wealth of experience in the development and implementation of telecommunications infrastructure projects.

Bio

Although he studied Business Administration and Management, since his first contact with the world of work, most of Jorge’s experience has been in the technical and commercial area of telecommunications. He has founded several companies that have built telecommunications networks in Europe, America, Africa, Asia and Oceania.

This international activity has led him or his companies to work in more than 70 countries, accumulating fundamental experience in the development and implementation of telecommunications infrastructure projects.

His latest project, Towernet, a company specialising in its own tower and DPC infrastructure, was sold in 2019 to lyntia, a leading fibre company in Spain.

In recent years he has been Senior Advisor to the infrastructure fund Digital Colony for Spain and Portugal.

1997–2003

Jorge started his career in the telecommunications industry in the Radiotrónica Group, based in several countries (Argentina, Guatemala, Mexico, Chile and Brazil) and occupying various positions within the Group, from head of production, responsible for fibre deployment, to CFO and CEO of the Latam business.

2003–2007

Founded and leads Calatel in Miami, a company that builds more than 6,000 cell towers and installs more than 5,000 BTS in the Caribbean, Mexico and Central America. Calatel has established itself as the main network contractor for the Digicel Group, and one of the largest suppliers for Telefónica in Mexico and Central America. The company achieves a turnover of more than US $50M per year, and is eventually sold to Avanzit.

2007–2009

Jorge leads Avanzit’s international expansion from Madrid (formerly Radiotrónica and Ezentis), with revenues of more than €500M per year.

2009–2020

Founded and chairs Cetelnet, the largest network contractor for Digicel Pacific and Huawei Asia Pacific. It builds more than 2,000 cell towers and installs more than 3,000 BTS in Australia and the Pacific region. It is also one of Huawei Africa’s largest suppliers.
